When

10 – 11:30 a.m., Feb. 21, 2026

Join the River Run Network and Friends of Danny Lopez Park for a stroll through the Santa Cruz River floodplain. Framed by effluent flow from the Agua Nueva outfalls and Silverbell Lake, this vibrant area supports lush vegetation, abundant wildlife, and serves as a vital cooling corridor for our city.

During the walk, Barbara from Friends of Danny Lopez Park will share the area’s cultural history, while Lauren Knight, WMG's River Run Network Program Manager, explores the role of effluent flow in sustaining habitat. Along the way, you’ll spot wildlife like blue herons and coots and learn about challenges facing our rivers, including the invasive species Arundo donax.
