Dragonflies at Safford Science Night: On February 11 students at Safford K-8 learned all about the dragonflies that make the Santa Cruz River their home. Students spent time building anatomically accurate dragonflies with pipe cleaners and tissue paper.

Teacher field art workshop: PhD student Rocio Guzman shared drawing techniques with teachers to help them support students in creating accurate field drawings. The workshop supports BIORETS teachers as they implement Santa Cruz River focused curriculum.

Water quality field research: Flowing Wells Junior High students in Mrs. Sheppard's class started their long-term research project on water quality in the Santa Cruz River. Students measured water quality parameters and identified macroinvertebrate samples from the Santa Cruz River near Crossroads at Silverbell Park.
