Counting macroinvertebrates at the Santa Cruz River

Field research continues: Flowing Wells Junior High students continued their water quality research project with Michael Bogan. In early March they visited the Santa Cruz River near Sanders Road to collect 5 macroinvertebrate samples along with measuring additional water quality parameters.

Dragonfly fun at science awards night: Students at Los Amigos Tech Academy learned all about dragonflies and their connection to the Santa Cruz River during their Science Awards family evening.

Research near Avra Valley Road: Mrs. Sheppard's students wrapped up their final field research trip of the semester near Avra Valley Road. They continued to measure water quality parameters including collecting 5 samples of macroinvertebrates. Michael Bogan and undergraduate student Evelyn Munoz assisted with macroinvertebrate identification and estimating how many were in each sample.

Reconciliation ecology and river stewardship: Community members joined students and families from Homer Davis elementary on the last Saturday in March to learn about reconciliation ecology from Angel Breault and Kat Sacoman. Everyone helped make the river a bit healthier by collecting trash or removing invasive plants.
