Applications are now closed for the final year of BIORETS Santa Cruz River Teacher research experience program. If you would like to be notified of future opportunities on the Santa Cruz River for teachers, please email jmbruhn at arizona.edu to be added to our mailing list.

This year-long program, funded by the National Science Foundation, partners teachers with University of Arizona researchers to learn field techniques and research methods focused on the Santa Cruz River. Teachers are paid for their participation in the program. Participants develop curriculum (lessons and activities) based on their research experiences to implement during the school year. Eligibility: STEM teachers for grades 6-12 at any Tucson metro area school, including the Tohono O'odham and Pascua Yaqui Nations

Dates: June 6 to July 17, 2024. 80 hours during the 2024-25 School year

Summer compensation: 6 weeks full-time: $6,240 (June 6 to July 17, 2024)

School year compensation: 80 hours total = $2,080 for monthly group meetings, class visits, and BORETS curriculum implementation and documentation

Teacher supply funds: $2,000 to purchase supplies to implement BIORETS curriculum
