Dragonflies were celebrated across Tucson and Marana on Saturday, September 30th with 120 people participating in tours on the Santa Cruz River. Tours took place in downtown Tucson at the Tucson Water Heritage Project, Mission Gardens, and in Marana at Marana Heritage Park. Dragonflies were counted, admired, caught by a lucky few for closer observation. The water was the perfect temperature, and a light breeze kept everyone cool. Dragonfly events throughout the month of September are a collaborative effort of the Sonoran Institute, University of Arizona, Tucson Water, and Pima County Natural Resources.
