Teacher Workshop BIORETS teachers gathered on campus to learn from two guest speakers. Eamon Harrity of Sky Island Alliance presented borderlands wildlife data. He shared ways K-12 teachers and students can get involved in their wildlife monitoring work. BIORETS alumni teacher Toby Kochenderfer led a lesson on watershed building using recycled cardboard.
Young scientists Our family-focused Dragonfly Festival event, River Explorers, took place at El Rio Preserve on the 19th. Nature Journaling at Danny Lopez Park BIORETS teachers and friends spent a beautifully cool September morning at Danny Lopez Park practicing noticing, wondering, and using map making skills. Dragonfly Tours Dragonfly experts were at 5 locations in and along the Santa Cruz River from Mission Gardens through downtown Tucson all the way up to Marana Heritage Park. They introduced attendees to the magic of dragonflies. Everyone learned how dragonflies rely on water as part of their life cycle. And some people were able to carefully hold a dragonfly!
