Plein Air On The Santa Cruz River

In this activity students will be learning about the history of plein air as an art style, as well as an understanding of how the Santa Cruz River can be a great place to practice plein air art through guided individual practice. 

Objectives

  • To get students out of the classroom and outdoors
  • To identify and describe key plein air artists
  • To experience and apply plein air painting techniques
  • To think about composition and color harmony
  • To reflect on plein air experience
